Ramon Jimenez-Gaona set the still-standing school record in the discus with a mark of 210-11 at the 1992 Pac-10 Championships. A three-time NCAA runner-up in the discus – 1991 (202-7), 1992 (206-9) and 1993 (200-0), he captured the Pac-10 title in 1991 and ’92. Ramon competed for his native Paraguay at three Olympic Games – 1988 in Seoul (24th place), 1992 in Barcelona (16th) and 1996 in Atlanta (16th). In addition, he threw the discus at the World Championships four times and won the South American championship in 1993 and ’97.
