Robert Clark was a track and field All-American in 1934. He placed second in the long jump at the 1934 NCAA meet. Clark captured AAU titles in the decathlon in 1934 and ’35 and set the American record in the decathlon in 1935 (7,595). Clark set the Cal record for most points in the decathlon (7,353), a record that stood for 42 years. He then went on to win a silver medal in the 1936 Olympics in the decathlon (7,601 points) and placed sixth in the long jump (25-2). Clark selected on Walter Christie's all-time Cal track & field team in the broad jump.
