SPIEKER AQUATICS COMPLEX
Above middle photo: Historic Spieker Aquatics Center serves as the home pool for all four of Cal’s aquatics programs – men’s and women’s swimming & diving and men’s and women’s water polo. One of the finest outdoor facilities in the United States, it has produced dozens of national champions and Olympians.
In between middle & bottom photo: Located at the corner of Dana Street and Bancroft Way on the south side of Haas Pavilion, the facility was completed in the fall of 1982. It was made possible through the Cal Sports 80s project and was named after former Cal water polo letterman Warren E. “Ned” Spieker, who provided the major portion of the funds for the project. Over the years, the facility has undergone several upgrades, including a renovation in the late 2010s that included new permanent seating and a new scoreboard, as well as a reconfiguration of the competition end of the pool to provide better viewing for spectators. Spieker is one of two pools used by Cal’s aquatics program for training and competition, with the teams also working out at nearby Legends Aquatic Center, which opened in the fall of 2016.
In addition to annual dual meets in swimming, Spieker Aquatics Complex has served as host for numerous major water polo events, including the U.S. Senior Championships, the MPSF Championships and the NCAA Championships. Spieker Aquatics Complex replaced the Harmon Pool, which served as the home for California aquatics for 50 years through 1981.

- Glass, Metal Bottles and Cans
- Hard Plastic Containers
- Unsealed Beverages
- Signs & Banners
- Hard Fruit (unless cut into small pieces)
- Video Cameras
- Professional Cameras (any cameras with lenses larger than 3 inches in length)
- Hard Coolers
- Noisemakers
- Animals (with exception of Service Animals)
Cal Athletics is committed to serving our fans by providing a safe, comfortable and enjoyable gameday experience. Our Fan Code of Conduct has been established to ensure that your experience is consistent with our commitment. Failure to follow this code will result in ejection from the facility, revocation of ticket privileges and/or arrest.
The following actions are prohibited:
- Any action that disrupts other guests' enjoyment of the game
- Possession of any item listed on the "Prohibited Items List"
- Use of foul, abusive, or obscene language or gestures
- Fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks or gestures
- Intoxication or signs of impairment related to alcohol or drug use
- Fans that appear to be inebriated and unmanageable will not be permitted admittance into the venue and may be subject to arrest.
- Failure to follow the directions of law enforcement or stadium management
- Sitting in a seat other than one's ticketed seat location
- Engaging in action that causes a disruption or interferes with the game
- Refusal to remove clothing deemed offensive or obscene
- Smoking and/or tobacco use
