California Athletics Hall of Fame
As an All-America quarterback, Steve Bartkowski led the nation in passing with 2,580 yards in 1974. The Bears went 7-3-1 that season and just missed a trip to the Rose Bowl. He went on to become the No.1 pick in the 1975 NFL Drafted, selected by the Atlanta Falcons. He played twelve seasons in the NFL. He threw for 300+ yards in a game four times during his Cal career and led Cal in total offense twice (1972 and 1974) Bartkowski also played first base for the Bears’ baseball team and was named an All-American in 1973 when he led the squad with a .329 batting average.
