California Athletics Hall of Fame
Clifton Mayne and Hugh Ditzler were NCAA doubles champions in 1952 and NCAA Doubles finalists in 1953. The duo continued its career together after Cal, winning California State Open Doubles titles in 1962 and 1966, Pacific Coast Doubles Championships in 1960 and 1961, U.S. National 35's Hardcourt Doubles Championships in 1976 and the U.S. National 45's Indoor Doubles Championship in 1980. The two Golden Bears were inducted into the USTA NorCal Hall of Fame in 1999. A product of Berkeley High School, Mayne played both tennis and basketball at Cal. He remained competitive in tennis after graduating from Cal, winning several U.S. national hard-court age-group championships in doubles.
