One of the only athletes in California history to earn letters in three different sports . . . lettered three years as a guard for Andy Smith in football, the last of which was in 1920 when he was captain of the first of Cal's "Wonder Team" era and led the Bears to a 9-0 record including a win over Ohio State in the 1921 Rose Bowl  … selected second-team guard on Brick Morse's 1937 All-Time Cal football Team ... consistent point contributor as a shot put specialist on the track and field team and lettered twice as a guard in basketball . . . remained active in Cal athletics after graduation, serving as President of the Big C Society, Chairman of the Athletic Council and President of the Alumni Association (1955-56).
