Barrie Bulmore Ornstil became Cal’s first women All-American in tennis in 1982 and repeated as an All-American in 1983, when she reached the NCAA doubles semifinals partnered with Julie Grummel Wirth and also competed in the NCAA singles tournament. She was selected to the all-conference team (1980-83) four times and was also a finalist for Cal’s tennis athlete of the decade (for 1976-86), making her one of the best players Cal has ever seen.
