Competed as one of the best in the country … after graduating in 1946, Lemmon served as assistant crew coach from 1947-51, was freshman coach from 1954-59 and succeeded Ebright as varsity coach from 1960-66 … as head coach, his varsity team won first place in the IRA Championships in 1960, ’61 and ’64, and his JV teams finished second each of those years … his Cal team made it to the finals of the Olympic Trials in 1960 and ’64.
