The California men's tennis team will send four student-athletes to the 2026 ITA Division I Men's West Sectional Championships, held Thursday through Sunday at Arizona State. The tournament features a 64-player singles main draw and a 32-team doubles main draw.
Sectionals are the final opportunity for West region players to earn spots in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Six singles players (the four semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners) and three doubles teams (the two finalists and the third-place playoff winner) will qualify.
Senior Lenn Luemkemann, who has already qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship, will compete in doubles alongside junior Paris Pouatcha as the pair looks to punch a ticket to the NCAA Doubles Championship. They open Thursday at 11 a.m. PT against Santa Clara's Ferran Redza and Luca Lemaitre Vilchis.
Pouatcha has had a strong fall, posting an 8-3 singles record, a 6-2 doubles record and two ranked wins. He aims to qualify for both NCAA championships and opens singles play Thursday against USC's Connor Church. Senior Timofey Stepanov joins Pouatcha in the singles draw and will face Arizona State's Jelani Sarr in the first round. Stepanov will also team with senior Alex Aney in doubles, where they'll take on Arizona's Tristan Berard and Zoran Ludoski.
