Two doubles pairings and four individuals will compete in Los Angeles
Cal women's tennis will travel to Los Angeles to compete in the ITA West Sectional Championships hosted by USC this Thursday through Sunday. The pair of Mille Johanna Moerk and Laura Cilekova as well as the pair of Mao Mushika and Naomi Xu play doubles at Marks Stadium. Cilekova, Mushika, Xu and Nika Hurkacz will compete in singles.
Thursday and Friday matches will begin at 9 a.m. PT with singles first, followed by doubles later in the day. Saturday and Sunday matches will start at 10 a.m. with singles, followed by doubles later in the day as well. There will be one round of singles and one round of doubles each day.
Six players from each section will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, with the four semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners each advancing to nationals in Athens, Georgia. Three doubles teams from each section - both finalists and the third-place duo - will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship. Four Bears clinched NCAA Individual Championship berths last year at sectionals: Mao Mushika, Berta Passola Folch, Greta Greco Lucchina and Naomi Xu.
