One of the finest crew coaches in the history of the sport … coached three Cal teams (1928, '32 and '48) to Olympic Gold Medals, a feat never achieved by any other university … the 1928 team was undefeated domestically, going on to defeat Amsterdam for Olympic gold … the team repeated the feat during the next Olympic season, staying undefeated through their victory over Italy for the gold medal … Ebright’s teams won six IRA championships during his tenure … coached at Cal for 35 years … his teams captured six intercollegiate varsity titles and four junior varsity titles during his illustrious coaching career.
