A former world record holder in the 200 individual medley who was also one of the world's best in the breaststroke … helped Cal to its first NCAA title in 1979 and returned the next year to lead the Bears to another national crown in '80 … swam the 200 IM world record in a time of 2:03.65 during the 1978 World Games … set NCAA and U.S. Open records in the 100 yard breaststroke twice during the 1977 NCAA meet with times of 55.29 and 55.10 … came back to better those same records in '79 NCAA meet with times of 55.07 and 54.91 … also set NCAA and U.S. Open record in 200 breast in a time of 2:00.05 … was part of Cal's NCAA record setting 400 medley relay team which set two records in 1979 NCAA Championships with times of 3:16.41 and 3:15.22 … earned eight NCAA titles to become one of the top point winners in NCAA history … was on the Canadian Olympic  team in 1976 and helped his medley relay team to a silver medal.
