California Athletics Hall of Fame
A six-time All-American, Alysia Johnson Montaño captured the NCAA indoor and outdoor national titles in the 800 meters in 2007. She went on to become a seven-time USA champion in the event, starting in 2007. Montaño qualified for the U.S. team for the 2012 Olympics in London where she took fifth place in the 800 meters. A two-time Pac-10 champion in the 800, she continues to hold the school record with her collegiate best of 1:59.29, as well as the Cal indoor mark of 2:03.39. Montaño was twice named the Pac-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Year. In addition to her NCAA wins in 2007, she was third in the indoor 800 in 2006 and ’08, and sixth in 2005 and third in 2006 in the outdoor race. She is a multi-time medalist at the World Championships and owns a personal best of 1:57.34 in the 800 from the 2010 season.
