The only member of the Class of 2003 to be honored posthumously … voted a consensus first team All-America tackle in 1935 … with Cal registering a 21-10-2 record during his three years (1933-35) on the team, he served as team captain on the ’35 club that finished with a 9-1 mark … known for his punt-blocking prowess, blocked punts against Oregon and UCLA his senior year, with both plays leading to winning touchdowns … in addition to All-America honors, was named first-team All-Coast in both 1933 and 1935 …  passed away in 1998 … also lettered in track and field as a discus thrower his senior year at Cal becoming one of Cal’s great two sport athletes.
