The 1980 Cal women's crew captured the Bears first women's team championship in any sport … under first-year coach Pat Sweeney, a 1976 Olympic silver medalist from Great Britain, Cal dominated the AIAW Championships … members of the boat were: Cox  - Nan Bernadou; Stroke - Katie Stone; 7 -  Renee Russak; 6 - Joy Stockton/Hagin; 5 - Leanne Cox; 4 - Barb O'Neill; 3 - Nancy Dennison; 2 - Kathy Moeller; and Bow - Alice Lee.
