Competed at Cal in 1926 and ‘27 and is considered Cal's first great gymnast … started the gymnastics program at UCLA and won the first two of his four Pacific Coast Conference All-Around titles with the Bruins in 1924 and ’25 … won two more All-Around Championships with the Bears in ’26 and ’27 … also a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 1928, competing in Amsterdam … graduated from Cal with a degree in Engineering … helped Cal to PCC titles as team captain in 1926 and '27 … also competed in wrestling at Cal … after his competitive career, he went into teaching and coaching in the Los Angeles area … coached several top performers including Eddie Gross, the 1932 Olympic Silver Medalist; Jack Holst, the 1933 AAU high bar champ and Randall Bryden, the world record holder in the rope climb in 1933.
