One of few athletes in Cal history to letter in three different sports . . . regarded as the top back on the West Coast at the turn of the century . . . led the Bears to their first two wins over Stanford, capturing the Tilden Football Statue which today stands near the Life Sciences Building on campus . . . captained both the football team as a back and the baseball team as a catcher . . . earned his Big C letter in track in the hammer throw, scoring points in the Stanford meet in 1899 … selected second-team halfback on Brick Morse's 1937 All-Time Cal football squad.
