Klompmaker Named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Junior forward tallied nine points on three goals and three assists during Cal’s home-opening weekend.
Junior forward Liz Klompmaker of the California field hockey team was named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Klompmaker led the Golden Bears to a 2-0 opening weekend against American and Central Michigan, totaling nine points on three goals and three assists. It marked her third-ever ACC weekly honor after she was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week in each of the previous two seasons.
Against the Eagles, Klompmaker found the back of the net in the third period before assisting on the game-winning overtime goal.
Klompmaker continued to lead the offense against the Chippewas, figuring in on each of Cal's goals. The junior scored the first two goals of the game, giving the Bears a 2-1 lead in the first half. She then added two assists to help Cal win 4-2 after the Chippewas tied the game in the third quarter.
The two-goal performance marked Klompmaker's 10th multi-goal game and gave her 34 career goals, tying her with former Golden Bear and USA Field Hockey Hall of Famer Renee Chatas for seventh on Cal's career goals list.
