Klompmaker Named To 2026 NFHCA Collegiate Watchlist
California junior forward Liz Klompmaker has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Collegiate Watchlist, the organization announced Thursday. This marks the second consecutive year Klompmaker has earned the honor. The junior was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team earlier this month. Klompmaker was one of 212 Division I student-athletes from across the country named to the list.
The list recognizes field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the current year's NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams. To be nominated for the 2025 NFHCA Watchlist, student-athletes must have been previously recognized for their outstanding field hockey abilities within the past two years (NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, and/or U.S. National or International Team roster) and nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
Klompmaker is coming off an impressive sophomore campaign in which she was named a Third Team NFHCA All-American, the first Golden Bear to earn the honor since Andrea Earle in 2011. She became the 12th player in program history to earn All-American honors. She also earned First Team NFHCA All-Region and All-ACC honors. Klompmaker ranked fourth in the conference in points (34), fifth in goals (16), third in game-winning goals (four) and third in shots (77), while leading the team in each category for the second consecutive year.
In addition, she earned the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 14 after netting the game-winning goal in Cal's 1-0 victory over No. 5 Syracuse. This tied for the Golden Bears highest-ranked win in program history and marked their first win over the Orange since 2005.
Cal opens the regular season at home against American University this Friday at 6 p.m. PT.
