Strickland is looking to see his first action at Cal in 2016 after redshirting as a 2015 true freshman and is liisted in the No. 2 spot at the 'Z' outside receiver position on the 2016 preseason depth chart. Strickland was a Semper Fi All-American as a 2014 prep senior and four-star recruit who was among the nation’s top 200 players in the 2014 recruiting class overall according to Scout, Rivals, 247 Composite and ESPN. Strickland ranked as high as No. 12 nationally at his wide receiver position according to Rivals, while Scout, 247Sports Composite and ESPN also had him among the nation’s top 25. Strickland hauled in career totals of 84 catches for 1,770 yards receiving and 27 touchdown grabs during his final three prep seasons. He was three-year starter and four-year varsity player for teams that combined for a 51-6 overall record, an undefeated 28-0 mark in District/Region games and reached the Texas Division I state semifinals during both his 2011 freshman and senior campaigns.

• On the varsity roster as a true freshman when his squad was 14-1 overall, 7-0 in district play to win the 5A Region II District 9 crown and reached the semifinals of the 5A Division I state playoffs before finishing the season as the No. 4 ranked team in Texas as well as No. 24 nationally and No. 25 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings
