Pro Bears Week 2: Hezekiah Masses Named AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

Las Vegas Raiders rookie defensive back Hezekiah Masses intercepted Justin Herbert twice, had two pass breakups and one tackle for loss in his first NFL start during Week 2 of the league's 2026 season. Masses was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week and an NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week following his standout performance in the Raiders' 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Masses was one of many former California football defensive backs to turn heads in the NFL this week with Nohl Williams and Marcus Harris also garnering attention. Harris captured the first interception of his career, in addition to registering four tackles in the Tennessee Titans' close 24-20 loss to the Eagles.
Williams had five tackles and one pass breakup for the Kansas City Chiefs in their 33-30 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts. On the other side of the ball, Camryn Bynum was one of the more active members of the Colts' defense, with Bynum getting credit for nine tackles in the game.
Jared Goff completed 26 of 38 passes for 327 passing yards and four touchdown passes in Detroit's 41-31 loss to Buffalo. He has yet to throw an interception through the first two weeks of the 2026 season.
Craig Woodson continued to contribute for New England's secondary, adding seven tackles and one pass breakup in the Patriots' 20-3 rout of Pittsburgh.
Green Bay Packers running back Chris Brooks had four carries for 11 yards and one reception for 15 yards in the Packers' road win over the New York Jets.
