Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele Named Manning Award Star Of The Week

Cal Football QB Selected For Third Time
California football quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele added to his collegiate honors Monday for his performance in the Golden Bears' 49-7 victory over Wagner in a Week 3 game on Saturday. Sagapolutele earned a Manning Award Star of the Week selection.
Monday marks the third time in Sagapolutele's career where he has been named a Manning Award Star of the Week after receiving the distinction twice last season.
Sagapolutele completed 27-of-33 passes for a career-high 413 yards and three touchdowns against Wagner. He became the first Cal signal-caller to throw for at least 400 yards in a game since Jack Plummer threw for 406 against USC on Nov. 5, 2022. He now has four career 300-yard passing games, which is tied for 7th all-time at Cal.
Sagapolutele began his collegiate career with 14 consecutive 200-yard passing games, which had tied the NCAA record prior to Cal's victory over Syracuse.
On the season, Sagapolutele has completed 72-of-108 passes for 866 yards along with seven touchdown throws.
The Manning Award selected 40 quarterbacks for its Watch List in the preseason and will add additional quarterbacks on October 23. Finalists will be selected in early December, and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
