Cal Takes Down South Carolina In Columbia For Showdown At The Net Victory

The Golden Bears Got The ACC On The Board In Its Challenge With The SEC
As a part of a nearly week-long road trip, the California Golden Bears (4-1) were in Columbia, South Carolina, on Tuesday for their 2026 Shriners Children's Showdown at the Net matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-1).
The two squads went blow for blow to open the match, with the first set seeing 13 ties and five lead changes. Ultimately, it was the Gamecocks who pulled off the victory, winning 27-25, but the Bears didn't let that rattle them.
Cal came out on fire in the second set, racing to a 25-11 victory in which they led for the entirety of the set. Similar to the first set, the third saw the Gamecocks put up a good fight, as there were three different lead changes and nine ties, but the Bears were able to clinch a 28-26 victory.
With all the confidence in the world, Cal surged to a 25-20 win in the fourth, moving their record to 5-1 on the season and giving the Bears their best start since they opened the 2023 season 6-0.

The Golden Bears will return to California for their next set of matches, but they will be playing the next two at Santa Clara as a part of the Santa Clara Mission Classic.
