Cal Sweeps San Diego For 11th Straight Win
3/8/2026 5:03 PM | Baseball
Ties 2nd-Longest Streak In Program History
With the four-game sweep over the Toreros the Golden Bears improved to 13-3, their best start since 2015, while San Diego fell to 7-8.
Sophomore Gavin Eddy (3-0) took the bump to start and picked up his third straight win tossing seven full innings of work for the second week in a row. He allowed just two earned runs and scattered four hits and a walk while striking out six. After allowing a solo home run to the second batter of the game, he retired eight of the next nine Toreros he faced and hung five zeros on the scoreboard to keep his team in range.
The Bears took the lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Daniel Murillo, his second long ball of the weekend and fourth of the year. Murillo ended the game 4-for-4 and hit .389 in the series. San Diego was quick to tie it with a single run in the next half inning but that would wrap up the team's scoring for the series.

The bottom third of the lineup won the game in the bottom of the sixth as Gannon Snyder collected a one-out RBI single followed by an RBI double from the nine-hole hitter Jordy Lopez to give Cal a 4-2 lead. An insurance run came an inning later in the form of a bases-loaded HBP by Joshua Hanson to make it a 5-2 ball game.
Freshman Cade Colombara took the mound in the eighth and recorded the first decision of his career earning a six-out save. The right-hander gave up two hits and a walk while striking out one batter in his two scoreless innings of work.
The Bears won the hit battle 11-6 giving them double-digit hits for the fifth game in a row. Jacob French went 3-for-5 with a run giving him a team-leading 10 hits in the series for a .556 batting average.
Cal now has its sights set on a Tuesday road trip to San Jose State before welcoming No. 8 North Carolina to Stu Gordon Stadium to open ACC play this weekend.
