Wainwright joins Cal as a junior in 2014 after playing two seasons at College of the Sequoias highlighted by his 2013 sophomore campaign when he led his squad with 65 tackles, while adding 7.0 tackles for loss (-19 yards), 2.5 sacks (-12 yards), one interception, a team-high-tying one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Wainwright prepped at Cedar Grove High School, where he recorded 20.0 sacks during his 2011 senior season for a squad that reached the first round of the Class AAA State playoffs and played for a team that reached the quarterfinals as a 2010 junior. Wainwright will have three years to play two seasons at Cal.
