Cal senior wide receiver Bobby Shaw, who ranks third in the country in both receptions and receiving yards, has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is given annually to the top wide receiver in the nation by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club.
After six games, Shaw is averaging 8.0 catches and 133.17 yards. He also ranks 25th in the NCAA in scoring with 8.0 ppg. Last week at Washington State, he broke the Cal record for career receiving yardage.
Other semifinalists are: David Boston (Ohio State), Jacquez Green (Florida), Tony Horne (Clemson), Joe Jurevicius (Penn State), Randy Moss (Marshall), Marcus Nash (Tennessee), Jerome Pathon (Washington), Peter Warrick (Florida State) and Troy Edwards (Louisiana Tech).
The list will be paired down to three finalists in early November, and the award-winner will be announced in December.
