The California softball team gets its first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor as senior
Alex Sutton led the Golden Bears to a pair of victories over arch-rival Stanford.
On Thursday night on the road, Sutton was the hero as her fifth inning three-run home run lifted the Bears to a 3-0 win over the Cardinal and helped snap Cal's six-game losing streak. On Saturday, Sutton had another productive day at the plate in the series finale when she belted a two-run home run as part of a five-run second inning in the Bears' 9-1 win over Stanford. For the week Sutton hit two home runs with five RBI and a slugging % of .917.
Sutton was also named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for her efforts.
For the season, Sutton is batting .328 with a team-best nine home runs, 10 doubles and 38 runs batted in.
Cal (25-20, 2-4 Pac-10) faces a tough road trip this week, playing at No. 10 Arizona State on Friday, and at No. 4 Arizona on Saturday and Sunday. The Cal-ASU game will be televised on a tape-delay basis on Fox Sports Bay Area on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 11:00 a.m.
