Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Dec. 25, 2006

Ryan Anderson became the first freshman to earn the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week honor as the El Dorado Hills, Calif., product continues to dazzle as a rookie with the California men's basketball team.

Anderson forward averaged 23.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as he led the Golden Bears to a 1-1 pre-Christmas week. In the Cal victory over Furman, Anderson connected on 9-of-11 shots from the floor, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, as he finished with 23 points. He followed that with an impressive 24 points and career-high 16 rebounds at DePaul. He had a double-double by halftime (17-11), and his rebound total was the most for a Cal freshman since Jamal Sampson corralled 17 boards vs. Washington in 2002.
