Spring 2017: The Cal star wound up his college career in his third straight appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship, as Goransson reached the round of 32 before falling to North Carolina’s 16th-ranked William Blumberg – the eventual national runner-up – 7-5, 6-2, in Athens, Georgia…Goransson beat South Carolina’s 71st-ranked Harrison O’Keefe, 6-2, 6-2, in the round of 64…ranked 61st during NCAAs, Goransson moved up to No. 56 in the last Oracle/ITA singles poll and with Billy Griffith claimed a No. 79 final doubles ranking…Goransson ended his senior season with a 26-13 singles record (including 11-8 on court 2 and 2-0 on court 1) and 20-8 doubles record (including going 20-7 with Griffith and 0-1 with Connor Heap)…Goransson compiled career records of 98-48 in singles and 67-43 in doubles…was a key contributor to Cal’s 20-8 season that ended in the NCAA team tournament’s round of 16 in Athens…he collected his second career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after clinching a thrilling 4-3 win over Michigan on Feb. 28 under the lights at home at the Hellman Tennis Complex during the regular season…Goransson beat the Wolverines’ 66th-ranked Myles Schalet, 6-3, 6-7(8), 6-2, at court-two singles…he also beat Ziqi Wang, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1, on court two to clinch a 4-3 win over Yale on March 22 at Hellman…in the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship, Goransson teamed with Cal associate head coach Tyler Browne to reach the March 4 round of 16.

Fall 2016: Entered the fall ranked No. 17 in singles…finished the fall with a 12-4 singles record...posted three wins at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, reaching the consolation semifinals before falling to North Carolina’s 10th-ranked Ronnie Schneider, 6-3, 6-4…singles champion of the 2016 ITA Northwest Regional Championships, gaining automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships…in the regional singles final, Goransson beat fellow senior Bear Filip Bergevi, 6-4, 7-6(3)…at national indoors, Goransson posted a win in the consolation over Columbia’s 55th-ranked Shawn Hadavi, 6-2, 6-3…partnered with Billy Griffith to compile a 7-2 record…gained acceptance into the qualifying draw of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, winning two rounds…the duo reached the semifinals of the 2016 ITA Northwest Regional Championships falling to the pair of Jayson Amos and Simon Stevens of Oregon, 8-6…reached the finals of the Berkeley Futures pro tournament at Cal, falling to former UCLA star Marcos Giron in the final, 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-4…pairing with former Pacific player Sem Verbeek, the duo reached the doubles final of the Berkeley Futures…also reached the singles quarterfinals of the Burlingame Futures.

Spring 2016: Came into the spring with a No. 3 ITA singles ranking thanks to a strong fall…played in the NCAA Singles Championship for the second consecutive year, ending his season in the round of 32, falling to Virginia’s Ryan Shane, 6-2, 7-6(0)…named to the All-Pac-12 First Team…ended the season ranked 32nd in singles…won his first three singles matches in the NCAA team tournament, as Cal forged its way to the semifinals…in the NCAA round of 64 in Berkeley, Goransson beat Army West Point’s Grant Riechmann, 6-3, 6-0; in the round of 32 in Berkeley, he defeated Mississippi’s 59th-ranked Stefan Lindmark, 6-3, 6-1; and in the round of 16 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he beat TCU’s 24th-ranked Alex Rybakov, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5…posted a 25-14 singles record and 12-12 doubles record for the season…clinched the 4-1 Big Slam win over Stanford on April 16 in Berkeley, beating David Wilczynski, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2 singles…also teamed with Oskar Wikberg to clinch the doubles point over Stanford in what was the regular-season finale, with the two Swedes beating Wilczynski/Nolan Paige, 6-2, on court two…named the Pac-12 Player of the Week and Cal Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week on April 11, after Goransson beat Jake Douglas, 6-2, 6-2, at court-three singles to clinch a 4-0 win over Washington and defeated Oregon's Thomas Laurent, 7-5, 6-1, also on court three as Cal beat the Ducks, 4-1, at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

Fall 2015: Had a strong fall, reaching the singles final of the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, the semifinals of the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA All-American Championships and the final of the Battle in the Bay Classic…Goransson won the latter, beating Alec Adamson of UC Davis, 6-4, 7-5…won five times at Battle in the Bay; that included a 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(4) victory over teammate Filip Bergevi in the semifinals…also won the doubles title at the Battle in the Bay, as the second-seeded and 25th-ranked Goransson and Florian Lakat beat San Diego’s top-seeded/17th-ranked Jordan Angus/Filep Vittek, 8-5, in the final…at the All-American in Tulsa, Oklahoma – where the Bears would return to twice in the spring semester – the 22nd-ranked/Nos. 9-16 seeded Goransson won four times including defeating San Diego’s 30th-ranked Uros Petronijevic, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals…but he fell to Tulane’s fourth-seeded/10th-ranked Dominik Koepfer in the All-American semis, 6-4, 6-4…at national indoors in New York, Goransson defeated four ranked opponents – Denver’s 75th-ranked Diogo Rocha, 6-1, 6-2, in the round of 32, Ohio State’s 32nd-ranked Mikael Torpegaard, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 16, Texas A&M’s 53rd-ranked Arthur Rinderknech, 6-2, 7-5, in the quarterfinals, and Georgia Tech’s 24th-ranked Christopher Eubanks, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5, in the semifinals…Goransson fell to the 10th-ranked Koepfer in the second straight tournament, 6-1, 7-5, in the final…Goransson claimed the Sportsmanship Award from national indoors…he also paired with Lakat to reach the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships doubles round of 16…the Swede reached the round of 32 in the Tiburon Challenger, falling to Swiss pro Henri Laaksonen, 6-2, 6-4.

Spring 2015: Capped his season with an appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship…Goransson lost in the NCAA opening round of 32 to Louisville’s fifth-seeded/ranked Sebastian Stiefelmeyer, 6-4, 6-3…named the 2015 ITA Northwest Regional Player to Watch…finished the season with records of 26-11 in singles and 20-13 in doubles…ranked 29th in the second to last ITA singles poll of the season… in the NCAA team tournament opening round of 64, Goransson beat the 99th-ranked Peter Nagy, 6-3, 6-2, at court one…posted impressive wins over USC’s sixth-ranked Yannick Hanfmann, 6-4, 6-1, Texas A&M’s 29th-ranked Harrison Adams, 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-3, Stanford’s 31st-ranked Tom Fawcett, 7-5, 6-0, Tulsa’s 37th-ranked Or-Ram Harel, 6-1, 6-0, Texas A&M’s  Shane Vinsant, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, and Harvard’s 57th-ranked Denis Nguyen, 5-7, 6-2,7-5, during the regular season…paired with Oskar Wikberg to compile a 17-9 doubles record, playing mostly at court two during the dual-match season…Goransson/Wikberg beat Kevin Bettendroffer and Guillaume Rauseo, 8-6, on court two to clinch the doubles point against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the NCAA team championship round of 64…partnered with J.T. Nishimura to win the consolation title at the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship; the Bears upset the third-seeded pair of USC head coach Peter Smith and former Trojan Kaes Van’t Hof, 8-6.

Fall 2014: Compiled a 10-4 singles record and 7-2 doubles mark in the fall…won his way to the round of 16 in the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships before falling to Fresno State’s Euan McIntosh, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4…lost in the ITA All-American Championships round of 64 to Duke’s Nicolas Alvarez, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2…attempting to repeat as the Battle in the Bay Classic singles champion, Goransson lost in the final to USC’s Nick Crystal, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2…with Oskar Wikberg, reached the doubles final at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, falling to San Francisco’s Bernardo Saraiva/Nils Skajaa, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0(6)...partnered with Gregory Bayane in the Battle in the Bay Classic, falling in the doubles quarterfinals to USC’s Crystal/Connor Farren, 8-4.

Spring 2014: Ended his first year as a Golden Bear with a 21-10 record at No. 4 singles, a 15-10 doubles record and an All-Pac-12 honorable mention…had a 10-7 record and a final No. 71 ITA ranking when paired with Ben McLachlan at No. 2 doubles…Goransson/McLachlan beat the 70th-ranked Harrison Adams/Shane Vinsant, 8-6, to clinch doubles in Cal’s eventual 4-3 upset of eighth-seeded/10th-ranked Texas A&M in the NCAA second round…Goransson also won his singles match (6-3, 6-2 over Junior Ore) against the Aggies…beat Saxon Buehning, 6-4, 4-6, 6-5 (7-3), to clinch Cal’s 4-2 win over No. 33 Alabama in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Pepperdine.

Fall 2013: Along with fellow first-year Bear Filip Bergevi, Goransson had a strong first semester at Cal, posting a 12-3 singles record and 4-3 doubles record…one of the Swede’s notable singles victories came in the Battle in the Bay Classic final, in which he topped 41st-ranked and top-seeded teammate Campbell Johnson, 6-0, 6-2.

Personal/Previous: Social welfare major...Andre Goransson is the younger brother of former Cal women's tennis player Annie Goransson, who completed her Cal career in 2013. He has another tennis-playing sibling in Claes Goransson, his brother, who played at Indiana and VCU. The Goranssons were raised in Hollviken, where they were coached by their father.

In the juniors, André Goransson had his best results at the Copa Gatorade 2012 in Venezuala winning two rounds in the main draw of singles and doubles, and winning three more rounds in the singles consolation draw. In the summer of 2012, he played in the European Boys Cup for Sweden's Under-18 Team. Goransson is currently ranked No. 4 among Swedish juniors.

The summer before arriving at Cal, André played in the ITF Pro Circuit Futures tournaments in Sweden. He played in seven ITF Futures Tournaments throughout the year and in two of the tournaments he made it out of the qualifying rounds, winning his first round match in the main draw at Uppsala in September, and earning his first ATP Tour World Ranking. Goransson is currently ranked 1652 on the ATP Tour.
