Bears Open Season At Bombs, Darts, & Birds Collegiate

Golden Bears Tee Off New Season in the Desert
The California men's golf team begins its 2026-27 season this week as they head to the Bombs, Darts, & Birds Collegiate in Chandler, Arizona.
The Golden Bears are led by Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Michael Wilson, who enters his third season at the helm. Under Wilson's leadership, junior Ziqin Zhou emerged as a standout last season, capturing Cal's first individual ACC title during the ACC Championship. Sophomore Trevor Cox also looks to build on his strong freshman campaign, recording two top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at The Desimone Invitational.
Cal is one of 13 teams competing on the par-72, 7,306-yard course at the Whirlwind Golf Course. Competition begins Monday with the teams playing 54 holes over the course of the tournament.
The Bears will make their inaugural appearance at the Bombs, Darts & Birds Collegiate, a brand-new addition to the NCAA Division I schedule, debuting as the 2026-27 season opener.
Tee times will be made available closer to the start of the tournament.
