Cal Announces 2026 Fall Rugby Schedule

Bears Set to Compete in Three Sevens Tournaments and One 15s Match This Fall
BERKELEY – The California rugby program announced its 2026 fall schedule Wednesday, featuring three sevens tournaments before contesting a 15-a-side competition. The 145th iteration of Golden Bear rugby will be looking to build upon last year's West Coast Sevens circuit sweep and national championship-winning season.
Head Coach Jack Clark will helm the program for the 44th year alongside Associate Head Coach Tom Billups who enters year 28 with the Bears in 2026-27.
Cal will return to the pitch to compete on the West Coast 7s circuit, beginning with a one-day tournament in Los Angeles at LA Dignity Health Sports Park on Sept. 26. The Bears top side won last year's tournament in Los Angeles with a perfect run through.
Cal will then head across the Bay to Palo Alto for the WC7s hosted at Stanford on Oct. 10. Last season at Stanford, the Bears two squads had a perfect day combining for eight wins and no losses. Cal's top side lifted the trophy at the end of the tournament to secure their second sevens title of the fall campaign.
The Bears will wrap up sevens play in San Diego for the two-day WC7s SoCal competition at the Oceanside Sports Complex on Oct. 17–18. Cal claimed their third tournament title of the fall campaign in San Diego last season to complete its sweep of the West Coast Sevens circuit.
Before the conclusion of the fall semester, Cal will also contest a XVs match against Western Washington University at Witter Rugby Field on Nov. 7. The Vikings are coming off a 2026 D1AA National Championship victory over Iowa State, winning 19-13 one day after Cal captured the D1A title. The Bears last faced Western Washington at the WC7s in Los Angeles last season, earning a 27-0 victory.
