Bears Complete Play at All-Americans and Sherwood Cup

The California men's tennis team completed play at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as the Sherwood Collegiate Cup in Thousand Oaks, California over the weekend.
At the All-American Championships, senior and 59th-ranked Timofey Stepanov defeated TCU and 21th-ranked Cooper Woestendick 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the Round of 64 of the main draw. This marked Stepanov's highest ranked win of his collegiate career. Stepanov then faced 47th-ranked Maxwell Exsted of USC, but fell short 7-6(4), 6-4. Besides singles, Stepanov also partnered with senior Alex Aney and defeated 36th-ranked Henrik Bladelius and Marko Mesarovic of Clemson 7-6(6), 7-5 in the doubles qualifying consolation match.
Junior Paris Pouatcha won his first three matches in prequalifying, advancing him to the qualifying rounds. However, he fell short in the first round of singles qualifying. Senior Lenn Luemkemann also won his first prequalifying match, but fell short in the second round of prequalifying.
At the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, the California men's tennis team finished with a 2-1-1 record. Sophomore Andrea Meduri had an outstanding weekend, finishing with a 4-0 singles record and a 2-2 doubles record.
Two Bears made their debuts for Cal this weekend. Graduate student Melchior Delloye defeated Diordan Macababbad of Grand Canyon University 6-1, 6-3, for his first win as a Bear. Meanwhile, freshman Benjamin Berger recorded his first collegiate win, teaming up with sophomore Winston Lee to defeat Giesen and Craze of Pacific 7-6(5).
