Cal Falls at UNC 3-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The California women's soccer team fell 3-0 against No. 7 North Carolina Thursday evening at Dorrance Field.

Fifth-year transfer goalkeeper Isa Banuelos earned her first career start for the Bears, recording one save in the matchup.

North Carolina found the back of the net three times in Thursday's matchup, opening the scoring in the 10th minute before a Cal own goal in the 32nd minute gave the Tar Heels a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. UNC added its third and final goal of the match on a header in the 65th minute.

The Bears responded in the second half, creating two shots and two corner opportunities after being held without either in the opening 45 minutes. Cal was unable to find the back of the net in Thursday evening's matchup.

Cal will have a week off from match play before returning home to continue ACC play against No. 3 Wake Forest on Sept. 17. The match is set to air on ACCNX at 4 p.m. PT.
