The California men's and women's swimming teams are on the road to La Jolla, Calif., to compete in the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego. The Golden Bears will face UC San Diego, Hawai'i and Pomona-Pitzer in a two-day meet beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m.

A Dominant Start
Ryan Erisman kicked off the 2026-27 season in dominant fashion. The sophomore ran away with the 500 freestyle (4:08.55) in his first race of the season, finishing more than six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, breaking a CSL record, shaving more than two seconds off his personal-best mark and moving to No. 2 in program history in the event. Erisman then finished first in the 200 butterfly (1:41.68) before breaking yet another CSL record with a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:32.12). His marks in the 200 and 500 freestyle are the fastest in the nation, while his time in the 200 butterfly ranks second in Division I.
The King of Breaststroke
Yamato Okadome is picking up right where he left off in the 2025-26 season, establishing his supremacy in the breaststroke. Okadome swept the breaststroke events at the third match of the CSL. The junior began his night with a first-place finish and a CSL record in the 200 breaststroke (1:50.88) before winning the men's 50-yard skins event and the 100 breaststroke (52.37). Okadome's 200 breaststroke time is currently the fastest in the nation, while his 100 breaststroke time ranks second.
Last Time Out
California swimming & diving opened the season with a second-place team finish at its first College Swimming League (CSL) match. The Golden Bears totaled 543.5 points, topping third-place Auburn with 371.5 and fourth-place Ohio State with 255, while falling to Stanford, which finished with 550 points.
New Names To Know
The men's and women's swimming and diving programs boast the nation's No. 1 and No. 5 incoming recruiting classes, respectively. The men's class is headlined by top-ranked Baylor Stanton, No. 5 Tim Wu, No. 7 Jordan Ragland and No. 10 Albert Smelzer, along with transfer additions Michel Arkhangelskiy and diver Justin Halford. The women's class is led by top-ranked Rylee Erisman and No. 9 Kelsey Zhang, with Ava DeAnda, Isabel Wolk and No. 2-ranked diving recruit Madeline Kohel among the class's other notable additions. Collectively, the classes add a wealth of talent and depth to both programs heading into the season.
