Cal Men Win Triton Invitational, Women Finish Third

Bears Cap Off The Meet With Multiple Event Wins And Podium Sweeps
LA JOLLA – California swimming & diving wrapped up the Triton Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men placed first with 993 points, while the women finished third with 628 points.
Day two began with a complete sweep of the podium in the 400 individual medley in both the men's and women's races. Airi Mitsui (53.61) and Kassy Yeung (53.68) followed up with first- and second-place finishes in the 100 butterfly, while Jack Brown (46.07) and Samuel Quarles (46.35) mirrored that result.
Next was the 200 freestyle, where the men swept the top six spots, led by Nans Mazellier (1:35.25), while Alexa McDevitt (1:46.39) won the event for the women. The Golden Bears claimed three podium spots in the 100 breaststroke, with Caiden Bowers (54.52) placing first for the men and Arielle Brotman (1:01.03) and Egle Salu (1:01.34) securing the top two spots for the women.
Cal closed out the first session with five podium finishes in the 200 backstroke, including first-place finishes by Finley Anderson (1:56.52) and Aukan Goldin (1:42.65). The Bears continued their success in the next event, with Camille Henveaux (16:09.05) winning the mile and Julien Rousseau (15:25.09) and Norvy Clontz (15:26.65) finishing first and second, respectively.
The men dominated the 100 freestyle, claiming the top six times in the event. JD Thumann and Brown tied for first, both touching the wall in 42.82. The Triton Invitational concluded with more dominance in the 200 breaststroke, as the women claimed the top five times in the event, led by Salu (2:14.67), while Bowers (2:00.67) placed first for the men.
The Bears return to action Friday, Oct. 16, for their second College Swimming League match, which is set to air on ESPN+. Cal's divers will compete for the first time this season against NC State and Stanford at home on Oct. 16–17.
