Watchlist Comprised Of Nation’s Top 50 Players
California women's basketball senior guard Lulu Twidale was one of 50 players across the country named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Thursday. This follows Twidale's selection to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watchlist and Preseason All-ACC Team earlier this month.
The Naismith Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding player in women's college basketball. The list of candidates will be narrowed throughout the season before four finalists are announced in March. The 2027 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy winner will be revealed during the NCAA Women's Final Four.
Twidale is coming off an impressive performance in the exhibition game against No. 3 USC this past Sunday where she led the game in scoring and rebounding with 25 points and nine boards to go along with three triples and three steals.
Already the Golden Bears' program record holder for both single-season (101) and career 3-pointers (236), she enters the 2026-27 season ranked second in the nation for active career triples and the only active player to have consecutive seasons with 94+ made 3-pointers. Twidale finished last season with 101 triples (fifth in the NCAA) and the 2025-26 season with 94 (13th in the NCAA).
In 2025-26, Twidale set career highs across the board in scoring (16.2), points (566), assists (128), 3-pointers (101), rebounds (138) and free throws made (109). She was among only four players in the nation to have three games with at least seven 3-pointers and posted three 30+ point games on the road which tied for the ACC lead and ranked fifth in the NCAA. Her best game of the year came when she scored a career-high 36 points while dishing nine assists to go along with eight 3-pointers at Boston College on Jan. 18 making her just the second player in NCAA since 1981-82 to record that stat line in a game.
Twidale and the Bears will wrap up the preseason with a final exhibition hosting Vanguard tonight at 6 p.m. PT.
