Watchlist Comprised Of Nation’s Top 20 Shooting Guards
California women's basketball senior guard Lulu Twidale was one of 20 players across the country named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Preseason Watchlist, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday. This follows Twidale's selection to the Preseason All-ACC Team earlier this month and marks her second consecutive season being named to the watchlist.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, in its 10th year, honors the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
Twidale is coming off an impressive performance in the exhibition game against No. 3 USC this past Sunday where she led the game in scoring and rebounding with 25 points and nine boards to go along with three triples and three steals.
Already the Golden Bears' program record holder for both single-season (101) and career 3-pointers (236), she enters the 2026-27 season ranked second in the nation for active career triples and the only active player to have consecutive seasons with 94+ made 3-pointers. Twidale finished last season with 101 triples (fifth in the NCAA) and the 2025-26 season with 94 (13th in the NCAA).
In 2025-26, Twidale set career highs across the board in scoring (16.2), points (566), assists (128), 3-pointers (101), rebounds (138) and free throws made (109). She was among only four players in the nation to have three games with at least seven 3-pointers and posted three 30+ point games on the road which tied for the ACC lead and ranked fifth in the NCAA. Her best game of the year came when she scored a career-high 36 points while dishing nine assists to go along with eight 3-pointers at Boston College on Jan. 18 making her just the second player in NCAA since 1981-82 to record that stat line in a game.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in each of the three rounds starting on Friday, October 30. In February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2027 Ann Meyers Drysdale Awards will be narrowed to 10, then to five in March. In late March, the five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected. The selection committee for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Twidale and the Bears will wrap up the preseason with a final exhibition hosting Vanguard on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT.
