- • The last time Cal relinquished The Axe at home was 1984, when the Bears lost, 27-10, one year after winning The Axe at Stanford.

• Cal has now suffered back-to-back losses at home for the first time since falling on Sept. 21 and 28, 2002, against Air Force, 23-21, and Washington State, 48-38.

• The 34-point loss today was Cal's worst defeat in the history of the Big Game since its 41-0 loss to Stanford in 1930. The Cardinal broke its Big Game record by scoring 48 points (in 1996, Stanford won, 42-21)

• TB Shane Vereen reached the 1,000-yard mark for the season, ending the game with 63 rushing yards on 16 carries. He now has team and career highs of 1,061 yards rushing and 209 carries. For his career, Vereen passed Jahvid Best today and now stands seventh all-time at Cal with 2,728 rushing yards.

• WR/KR Keenan Allen threw the first TD pass of his Cal career in the 4th quarter, hitting WR Marvin Jones from 17 yards out (Jones' 10th career TD reception). Allen finished the game with 188 all-purpose yards (KR: 5-120; Rec: 8-51; Rush: 2-17) plus 17 yards passing (1-1, TD). His eight catches tied a season high.

• TE Jarrett Sparks made his first two receptions of the season, for 18 yards.

• P Bryan Anger had three punts including a season-long of 71 yarder, his third punt of 70+ yards against the Cardinal in his career. He finished the game with a 54.3 average, with two inside the 20.

• S Sean Cattouse had a career-high 15 tackles.

• The Bears allowed a 58-yard run in the first quarter by Stanford QB Andrew Luck, the longest rush by a Cal opponent in 2010 (previous long was by Vai Taua at Nevada on Sept. 17). The Cardinal scored to end that drive at 95 yards with a touchdown, tied for the longest scoring drive against the Bears this season (also USC).

• The Bears were penalized nine times for 95 yards. Cal entered the game averaging 6.4 flags and 51.6 yards against it per game.

• Head coach Jeff Tedford, now with an all-time record of 72-41 (.637), remains two victories behind the school's all-time leader, Andy Smith (74, 1916-25) and one shy of James Schaeffer (73, 1909-15).

• Today's attendance of 67,793 takes Cal's current streak with at least 50,000-plus fans at Memorial Stadium to 43 games - every contest over the last seven seasons.
