Boston U. Tops Cal, 2-1, in Field Hockey
Sept. 5, 1999
STANFORD - After winning its first four games of the season, the Cal field hockey team lost its first match of the year Sunday, falling to Boston University, 2-1.
The Bears fell behind, 2-0, in the first half, before Sara Baron scored off assists by Megan Sainsbury and Catlin Braught with just 20 seconds left in the first period. However, Cal could not close the margin in the second half.
Sainsbury, who already has eight goals and nine assists on the year, is making a climb up Cal's single-season record charts. She is tied for eighth in goals, fourth in assists and tied for fifth with 25 points. Earlier this year, she broke the school career assist record and now has 26 assists during her tenure with the Bears.
The Bears conclude their Labor Day Weekend series with a game against Iowa Monday at 11 a.m. on the Stanford campus.
