Scott Hintz is currently in his first year at Cal Athletics where he serves as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach. Hintz leads training for Track & Field, Cross Country and assists Men’s Basketball. He is an experienced sports performance coach with over 15 years in the field, spanning NCAA Division I, Division III, high school, and private sectors.Â
Prior to joining Cal, Hintz was the Head of Sports Performance at Macalester College, overseeing performance programs for 21 varsity teams and leading a staff of coaches and interns, budget management, equipment acquisition, and the integration of sport science technologies. Â Hintz also served as Director of Strength and Conditioning at Catalyst Sports Medicine. Â There, he developed and expanded performance programs across four facilities and directed strength and conditioning services for three high schools.
His collegiate coaching background includes positions at several Division I programs, including volunteer and internship roles at the University of Minnesota, the University of Alabama, Marquette University, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He also served as a guest strength and conditioning coach for LSU Football.
Hintz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with minors in Strength & Conditioning and Coaching. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, where he is also a certified mentor. Additionally, he is certified in Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) and maintains current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
