Considered by many to be the greatest women’s’ tennis player of all time …  She was the winner of eight Wimbledon Championships between 1927 and 1938 … Won seven United States singles titles from 1923 until 1929 … Won 10 Wightman Cup matches throughout her storied career …  She even became the first women to received an athletic letter at the University of California and was Inducted into the University of California Women’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1978 …  Later she was enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1981.
