First Cal man to ever win the NCAA singles championship which he did in 1925 and '26 … also doubles champion with Thomas Stowe in 1926 … ranked No. 5 in the United States in 1926 … In 1974 was inducted into the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame, and in 1985 he was voted into the National Tennis Hall of Fame.
