An All-America quarterback in 1974 when he led the nation in passing with 2,580 yards … the Bears went 7-3-1 that season and just missed a trip to the Rose Bowl … went on to become the No.1 choice in the professional draft with the Atlanta Falcons, and played twelve seasons in the NFL … threw for 300+ yards in a game four times during his Cal career … led Cal in total offense twice, in 1972 and 1974 … also played first base for the Bears’ baseball team, being named an All-American in 1973, when he led the squad with a .329 batting average.
