CAL CAREER (Career Stats): Played in 19 games off the bench mostly as a kick returner during his two seasons at Cal from 2011-12, returning 24 kicks for 488 yards and an average of 20.3 yards per game ... also saw limited action at both tailback and wide receiver, finishing with 11 rushes for 38 yards and two catches for nine yards to compile a total of 535 all-purpose yards (488 kick return, 38 rushing, 9 receiving) ... wore No. 35 during the team's when he arrived in the spring of 2011 but changed to the No. 13 he finished his career with prior to the 2011 season.

2012 (Game-by-Game Stats): Picked up the team's Ken Harvey Award given to a player showing special academic commitment and improvement ... an honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic choice ... worked out at wide receiver in the spring 2012 but almost exclusively saw action as a kick returner, bringing back 12 kicks for 230 yards for an average of 19.2 while playing in each of the team's first 11 games off the bench before missing the season finale at Oregon State to rank second on the team in both categories ... brought back a career-high six kicks for a season-high 99 yards vs. Arizona State ... also had two returns vs. Southern Utah (47 yards) and at Utah (42 yards), bringing back one of his kicks a season-high 29 yards against the Utes ... had single kick returns at Washington State (26 yards) and vs. Nevada (26 yards) ... had one kick return for 30 yards in the spring game.

2011 (Game-by-Game Stats): Played in eight games off the bench, including each of the team's last six, in his first season at Cal after transferring from Golden West College ... contributed 305 yards of all purpose offense (258 kick return, 38 rushing, 9 receiving) ... posted the team's highest kick return average for any player that had more than one total return, bringing back 12 kicks (tied for second on the team) for 258 yards and a 21.5 average, all over the final four contests of the season ... had a season-high-tying five kick returns for a career-high 103 yards at Stanford and then five more for 100 yards in the regular-season finale at Arizona State in back-to-back contests ... had single returns in the Holiday Bowl vs. Texas (32 yards) and against Oregon State (23 yards) ... added 11 rushes for 38 yards and two receptions for nine for all of his career non-kick return stats at Cal ... did most of his damage on the ground against Washington State, with career highs of seven rushes and 29 rushing yards, including a career-long 12-yard run ... added four rushes for nine yards against Presbyterian ... had single receptions at Stanford (nine yards) and against Oregon State (0 yards) ... ended up with 100 or more all purpose yards in back-to-back games at Stanford (112) and at Arizona State (100) to end the regular season.

GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE: Tallied over 1,500 all purpose yards during two seasons, and helped lead his squad to a win in the Orange County Rooster Bowl as a 2010 sophomore ... earned All-Mountain Conference honors as a 2009 freshman, rushing for 375 yards and two touchdowns on 106 carries.

LOS ALAMITOS HS/CARSON HS: Played three games in his final prep season and only campaign at Los Alamitos High School in 2008, recording 317 yards on 11 kick returns and contributing 21 tackles ... played in the Gridiron War All-Star Game in the summer of 2008 following his senior campaign and had a huge game with 11 carries for 64 yards, eight receptions for 111 yards and one kick return for 43 yards ... spent his first three seasons from 2005-07 at Carson High School.

PERSONAL: Full name is Michael De'Von Manuel ... born September 4, 1990 ... parents are Michael and Angel Manuel ... graduated from Cal in December of 2012 with a bachelor's degree in American studies.
