A sensational prospect at inside linebacker who has the potential to be a dominating presence on the Cal defense for the next several years...has great size and is regarded as a fierce tackler...is superb against the run game as he has the size and strength to take on blockers and plug up holes...also has excellent speed (4.68 in the 40) and the agility to cover players out of the backfield...was hampered by a foot injury his senior year, missing 4 games, but still was regarded as probably the top prep prospect in the state of Nevada...earned SuperPrep All-Far West honors as the No. 50 overall prospect...also was on the PrepStar Western Region team as the No. 12 linebacker...ended up with an astounding 86 tackles in just 4 games his senior season...had a pair of games with 28 or more tackles...earned first team all-state honors as both a junior and senior...recorded a career total of 185 tackles and also chalked up 15 sacks during that time period...has good strength with a 375-pound bench press...chose Cal after taking trips to Nebraska, Washington and Utah, and turning down offers from Arizona State and Colorado...is planning a career in criminal justice..grew up in the San Jose area..is an amateur boxer in the Golden Gloves program in Las Vegas...parents are Ronald Cherry and Patricia Ahmed...born Sept. 7, 1979 in Tacoma, WA.
