Ronnie Davenport

Wide Receiver
6-2, 180
Woodside (Woodside HS)

A tremendous receiving prospect who could emerge as a blue-chip collegian...wasn't highly recruited until he exploded on the scene his senior year...caught 62 passes for 1,390 yards (22.4 ypr average) and 24 touchdowns in 1997...his 54 receptions in the regular season ranked 17th in the state last season...was named the Bay Area Player of the Year by the Palo Club and also picked up first team Central Coast Section honors...was a member of the PrepStar Western Region team as an athlete...has only played football for the past 2 seasons, previously concentrating on a promising basketball career...spent his junior season at Palo Alto HS before transferring his senior year to Woodside HS...coaches love his size and athletic ability...compared to Cal great Bobby Shaw in his ability to catch the football, but is bigger than Shaw and may be a touch quicker...has been timed in 4.56 in the 40...was recruited hard by Washington, Arizona, USC and San Diego State among others.
