his prep and JC career...comes to Cal after earning first team all-state
and All-America honors by the California state coaches association last
year...also picked up honorable mention JC Gridwire honors last
season...also was a unanimous first team Western State Conference selection
last season...earned honorable mention all-league honors as a freshman in
1996...recorded 75 tackles, including 6 sacks as a sophomore...also had 4
interceptions, deflected 17 passes, recovered 4 fumbles and forced 2
fumbles...blocked 3 punts and 2 field goals...blocked a field goal attempt
by Harbor JC with 20 seconds left in the game to preserve a 33-32
victory...originally signed a letter-of-intent out of Locke HS with Texas
A&M where he intended to play with close friend and prep teammate Sirr
Parker, but instead enrolled at Southwest CC...earned Southeastern
Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior in 1995...also
earned all-city and all-state honors...played linebacker, safety and
running back as a prep...was a standout baseball and track athlete at Locke
HS...has plans to coach and teach following graduation...lists Junior Seau
as his favorite pro athlete...parents are Bernard and Joann Marzett...born
