Brandon, MS (North Rankin HS)

A unheralded quarterback who was Cal's first recruit to commit as he decided to come to Berkeley in the summer after impressing the coaching staff at the Cal camp last June...played less than a year and a half of high school ball as his senior season was cut short by a neck problem the third game of the season...was cleared medically to come back late in the season, but his family decided to hold him out of action as a precaution and since he had already earned a scholarship...in his first two games, he completed 29 of 56 passes for 485 yards and 5 touchdowns....had a big junior year when he completed 141 of 227 passes for 1845 yards and 21 TDs...played in Seoul, Korea his freshman and sophomore years and was a standout for the American School...played varsity for the American School and hit 287 of 477 passes for 5442 yards and 79 touchdowns with 15 interceptions during those two seasons...an superior student who comes to Cal with a 3.75 GPA and a 1270 SAT score...father works for the state department and has worked in several embassies around the world, which has meant that David was born in Bangkok, Thailand and lived in China and Korea while growing up...moved to Mississippi to live with his older brother and play high school football in the U.S.
