Cal Men Secure Fourth, Women Finish Fifth at Bill Dellinger Invitational

Tau Places Fifth, Willcox Finishes 20th to Lead Bears
EUGENE, Ore. — The California men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2026 Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Oregon, on Friday. The men's squad secured fourth place, while the women's team finished fifth. Eight Golden Bears recorded personal or season bests, with six finishing in the top 30.
Sophie Tau led the way for the women's team for the third consecutive meet, finishing fifth overall with a season-best time of 20:27.6. Sabine Kim followed in 13th with a personal-best time of 20:58.6, while Fiona McGrath rounded out the Bears' top-25 finishers, placing 21st (21:13.3).
Adriana Ingargiola and Zoe Lahanas also recorded personal bests, finishing 48th (21:51.1) and 52nd (21:53.7), respectively. Natalie Wang crossed the line in 78th with a time of 22:24.4, while Ava Kopec rounded out the Bears' top seven finishers in 81st with a personal-best time of 22:35.0.
Freshman Kiefer Willcox led the way for the men's team, finishing 20th overall with a personal-best time of 24:29.4. Hayden Beauchemin followed closely behind in 22nd (24:31.6), while Sam Franco rounded out the Bears' top-30 finishers, placing 29th with a season-best time of 24:42.7.
Kyler McNatt and Zac Gibson also earned top-40 finishes, placing 31st (24:48.6) and 38th (25:01.2), respectively. Gabriel Rodriguez followed in 42nd with a season-best time of 25:05.6, while Alexander Lodewick rounded out the Bears' top seven finishers in 58th (25:27.3).
"The women had some really strong performances from our top three runners. Sophie ran with some of the best runners in the country, which was cool to see," said head coach Ryan Hill. "The men were really solid again. They've been consistent in training and racing this season, which is encouraging. Our top runner today, Kiefer, is a true freshman from the state of California, so that's something we can be really proud of."
The Bears return to action on Oct. 17 at the Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, California.
