Cal Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Awards

The California women's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team and seven Golden Bears – Jessica Alsola, Cami Brown, Berta Passola Folch, Tiziana-Marie Schomburg, Makenna Thiel, Katja Wiersholm and Naomi Xu – were named ITA Scholar-Athletes on Monday, the governing body of college tennis announced.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must compile a team GPA of 3.2 or above. To garner ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must average at least a 3.5 GPA for the academic year.

Along with Monday's ITA honors, the Bears collected numerous other awards for their outstanding work in the classroom in 2024-25. Alsola, Passola Folch, Xu, Greta Greco Lucchina, Lan Mi and Mao Mushika were named to the All-ACC Academic Team; the program earned the Golden Bear Team Award as the Cal squad with the highest team GPA; and Alsola gathered several more kudos including CSC Academic All-American, CSC Academic All-District and the Golden Bear Achievement Award for posting the top TBA on the team.
